I finally set the dates for my remaining driving license classes, and i have another 5 hours to complete till i get my Probationary card. That is at least something considering 2-3 years not doing anything about it.

2012 - It seems like a new life begins

Hello again,

I have to write this because its funny how my old life has begin to take a new twist again. And it seems like it is going to be a full turn of 360 degrees. Lets put it this way, It is going to be a new cycle from now on for major aspects of my life. I guess this is where i grow up to be a man. From my relationships to my real life, where work, personal life and responsibilities are concerned, its crazy how much it is growing apart. I believe it is all a test of God.

Lets start of with my relationship, it was very smooth-sailing, minus of course the hiccups of certain fights and relationship childishness, now its all gone. In a dramatic turn of events, everything i have ever got to know about being online, and being in love, is now a whisper in the wind. It is probably time for me to find something real.

In terms of job, i am at the stage where i am at the crossroads, whether this is the place and job i really want to do for the rest of my life or this is what i signed up for. Grueling 12 hours of work minus transport, can pretty much sum up a lot of things. In every downturn, i am sure there is positive outlooks along the way.

What i have pushed for so long is now becoming an immediate necessity and something of what maketh a man. A driving license. It really is something i need now. All this turn of events, will definitely force me to get my drivers license as immediately as possible. Oh well, its for the better.

My certifications too, i have been pushing all the way and now it all seems so relevant that i get it done with and clear it all before taking the next stepping stone. From my CCNA to ITIL to CISSP, all seems so relevant now and that i need to take it to move to the next level in my career.

To sum it all, for 2012, i need:

1. Driving License

2. CCNA, ITIL and CISSP.

3. My bosses kindness in allowing me some lateness since i dont have a proper transport now.

4. Further studies.

On another note, how i wished i listened to you, big bro Ganesh, my previous team lead and teacher, on my driving license.

Hello again, i believe i am writing this to keep this blog active just in case one fine day i am an expert in networking and someone needs my help on it. Currently i am working in an enterprise environment which includes managing the networks of Bank of America, Merrill Lynch and also Country Wide Home Loans.

As far as i know, BoA has the worlds largest MPLS network in the world which comprises of Cisco devices. Pretty much a dream job for many networking persons just coming out into the world of Computer networking.

Ill stop for now, and i will try to update my blog as much as i can.

Frustration update

Where have the priorities of lecturers gone? Are they in universities to teach and guide, or just to get their own work done? if they want to do that, please don't teach and take students as understudies or for final yr project students. It only de-motivates someone and keeps them in a lonely spot.

And to anonymous:
You expect 120% commitment from me, but wheres your f commitment? When i come to see you on your consultation hours, ur busy with ur other projects, then don't put ur hours there, its a waste of time for me, because i have to walk 30 minutes in the hot sun and waste 2 hours in college just to see you,

time is MONEY rite? I give it my ALL in this project and my all to my colleagues project. What ARE YOU DOING? blah, no point talking to someone's who has given up on himself. and just taking care of his own self. I dont even know why i was loyal to you and stood by you and did this university project with you.

Hello again,

Yes theres been a big absence from me. A lot of things have been going on with my life for the last one month. My project submission is on the 17th of December, which seems like a pretty long way from now, and with the progress I am having with my Project. It looks like its in good hands.

My certification is going on as it supposed to be but then i just do not have the right frame of mind to work on it at the moment. Nevertheless, without the maid, a lot of responsibility has been put on my shoulders, which is good, which means its the good old days in Adelaide.

I really do hope i get my CCNA and Degree sorted out at the same time.

CCNA enrolment and C exploits

Its been a while since i have written in this blog. Been caught up with my dissertation and nevertheless time flies really fast. I am currently enrolled in the CCNA modules for "Routing and Switching" as well as "Security". It would be fun to learn this things in detail. The place i am learning at is the "I-World Technology". Its a nice place and the staff there are really friendly. The cost is very affordable too.

My dissertation is going on well, with me starting on my C language exploits. I am trying to figure out how to input different programs into one PIC. Sounds easy but believe me, searching it on Google is really hard.

I am so happy I found some new light for my dissertation. Besides my dissertation, i have my CCNA papers left to do as well as my driving classes :P

Hmm, its interesting how you think someone can make you happy, but on the other hand, that person makes you double the insecure :) Well from now on, i am not going to entangle myself into situations like that, i am just going to focus on my work and do whats gotta be done.

Cant wait to go play some computer games today. To release some stress and kill some time. I cant wait to see you online again, hun. Miss you so much.

Finally got the GK thing sorted out, and started working on my front end for the project.

I need to get more tools for my project, because of some careless procurement earlier on. But i guess once i get the final things sorted out, the circuit would be able to be tested :)

Will be enrolling into CCNA and CCNA Security next week. A lot of reading to do. Should be a good side step to pursue besides music editing :) for my friend.

Today was an interesting day. I had a discussion with my supervisor.. but it seems that his mind is very fixed. We went around the bush and he suggested a "two prong" approach and my initial suggestion actually is a cost saver and a great idea. If only we could think in the same frequency of things, i think we would make a great team, my supervisor and i.

Time gets past so quickly, just finished 6 hours of my day playing L4D2 which was fun, but now i am really tired and i was thinking of doing some coding for my computer interface of my project. Nevertheless, its about having a sleepless next few days :) Nescafe is gonna have a field day with me.

I am kind of disgusted with Golden Key because of their non-professional approach of doing things. The person in charge of my application was supposed to get back to me, on it but not a single word on it. Is this always going to be a Malaysian thing or is an international organisation like GK going to step up and give proper customer service. The postal is also another doomed system. The "Track n Trace" does not give a clue on whether GK has received it or not. And tomorrow i have to sort this things out, having my FYP to run.

Just hope tomorrow gets better:) And my life to be rather organised.

A new day, week 5

Today is the start of week 5, there is good progress to my work so far. There are little milestones i am intending to achieve for the day and i hope i achieve it. I am always known to be a procastinator but now, since i really do have nothing to do, i can somewhat focus on myself. A little hard, but worthy for my own self development.

I plan to pick up table tennis again. I hope i have partners to play the game with. And of course L4D2. Its an awesome game, so many things to master and be good in.

Work-wise, i have to perfect my circuit and conclude my literature review. It has been pending the whole weekend, me still sobering up from her moving out. Now i have got things in perspective and i know, if i were to get over her loss in my life, i have to keep myself occupied with the things i have missed all along... my work, sports and friends.

Finally got the Honors society membership done, now i am looking around for a good school to do my Network Associate certification. Many many schools around, but i do not know which to pick :)

I visited my grandfather as well, got a lot of pointers and precious advice from him. On weight, on business and on politics. Every week i spend with him, is a step ahead in knowledge and the worlds perspective from a septuagenarian.

I will need to keep track and work out some things so i can organize and get multitude of things done. I cant be lazing around anymore, or not having a plan for myself. One of those widgets from windows 7 should help me ;)

I went to Golden Key today in Ampang and waited for a while and to my surprise, well they even accept cash, just cheques and CC online. Who wouldn't accept cash since, its the most direct form of transaction.

I will be sending them a registered cheque tomorrow, thus settling that issue. I have yet to call the driving institute regarding my reinstatement to driving. Heck, i don't know what the new rules are now, and how much it would cost me to go through it again.

I am still looking for the right places to do my CCNA, better still with an MCITP or EUCIP which is recognized by the Europeans. Dilemmas, dilemmas. A close friend gave me good advice today in choosing the place for training.

1. Is the trainer teaching of higher qualification than your current pursue

Today i was in university. I had a lot of things to settle. Had a lot of thoughts about my project and my personal life.

In terms of my project, its got good progress and good reviews from my supervisor. I just need to work on the nitty grittys of the analog side of it.

My personal life, my lovie will be moving out of home and she wouldn't be with internet. This is going to be very tough for us. Looking at the situations we are at, me not having a job yet and she living in a non-favored section of her city. Seems that things are against us, but i have faith we will go thru this tough phase together.

I met Chris after a long while and played table tennis with him. Its great to play the game again. I do miss it a lot.

I had a long night yesterday, i wanted so badly to have a game of l4d2 with andy but heck the garena server decided to play against me. So i never got to play for the night. I kept thinking about me lady love in Bosnia, wondering how she is, and what she was doing when she actually smsed me and told me the answers to my questions. Talk about emotional connectivity.

Assignments are aplenty but i am not starting on any yet because i believe that a weekend is for ones private space or to be with friends. The other 6 days are used for attending to family things and university demands, that the only time u have for yourself, is just a bath or some nice nap, that i sorely miss.

I cant wait to start training with Munthif, in a way he is my idol because he plays nationals and he is very humble about it. Me, training with him will definitely increase my competency and fitness, thus keeping me fit for my lady lovey ;)

Today, i have a KPI ( Key Performance Index) to achieve, which is to

1. Complete my Optical Communications Assignment

2. Read on my literature review for distributed systems ;)

Rambling for the day

I wanted to write about my life instead of overclocking since i believe its a bygone era for me. Right now i am in my final year, and it is pretty intense, though i find it pretty boring. Not to say i am somewhat a genius in school but the work load can be boring. Not as exciting as it was in 2nd year.

At the moment, i am in a dilemma about things i want to do once i graduate. My heart is set to two things, one would be to continue studying and then work, or to get into the work force and earn my first dough. Nevertheless, it seems i am quite used to the student life i am at, at the moment. Living in the so called Comfort Zone.

I am now, working on an assignment and a soft paper on distributed networks. I have yet to work strictly on my final year project as I need some help from my peers to review my work, as it goes along. Not easy working with people from different timezones on earth. I lack the inspiration to do greater things, though i know i am thoroughly capable of achieving it.

By the way i need to change the outlook of my blog again ;)

Anyways that is my rambling for the day.

Xigmatek S1284 Archilles issues

I tried installing the heatsink yesterday but looks like the 4 heatpipes are not fully utilized.. it looks too wide. Definitety since lga775 sockets are not so wide, looks like some mis-calculations has been done. I placed the thermal paste evenly across the processor, and placed the heatsink back in.. looks like it used the middle two pipes and half of each from the wide lined pipelines.

Now it seems clear why 3 heatpipes works best on the lga775 socket as the 3 pipes fully come in contact with the processor.. If the 4 heatpipes can be compacted into a size of 3 heatpipes, then Archilles woudl be god like. I will post some pictures up of the archilles, i have great reason to say that its an awesome cooler. Just that the heatpipe placements affect the performance and this makes the S1283 to be better.

As December gets closer, my exams are going to near an end by the mid week of december. I am slowly building up a nice rig for overclocking. At the moment, building it one by one is fun, finally i got the right things after a patient and suffering wait for an whole year.

back :) its funny today how elementary my mistake could have been to not realise that p35 motherboards have a problem with their slot 1 and slot 3 lolz. Once i switch my slots to slot 2 and slot 4, the rams literally flew :) lolz. this is a screenshot of what i achieved lolz

As i am getting closer to that 13m 1*s mark.. i am learning so many new things along the way. Overclocking is so much fun after all! My latest effort of tweaking brought me to 13m 29s :)

I should be preparing for the OC gathering as i wanna aim to get my first prize as the best low clock tweaker in Malaysia.. hopefully. Big Dreams, but never know till i try hard. As my dad says, never live in your comfort zone, you will never know your true potential!

If i broke the low clock record by AndreX_X, i would like to tribute it to 3 ppl which would be YoungPro, ojdr2001 and my beloved team, TeamBTB.

Getting there among the stars

Today i made a little step to the stars by shaving off another few seconds by following the YoungPro-Bravo Model, whereby i use YoungPros memset settings and Bravos duplex CW helped me gain some speed :) I am now learning for more tweaks, and hope the pros can help me :)

Last night i tried the copy-waza for the first time, and i would have to say that it does work. It depends on what file size works best for you... in which the next few days ill work on it. This is the preliminary stage of copy-wazaing.

Today i started on my open bench setup. Its rather simple as my Foxconn Mars permits it. It also saves space for me, and gives me the flexibility to do hardware change or some hardware tweaking on the board itself. So the following below are some pictures taken at day and at night, an open bench setup at work :)

Below, is something i have worked on for the last 1 month, due to the personal satisfaction i get beating scores of some people i regard as great overclockers. Theres nothing much really with this score as i am not really employed serious tweaking. I hope by the coming week, i can learn more and better my current time in SP32M

Tweaking Part 1 - The Basics

Hmm back again and i have decided to go back to basics. More thoroughly the basics of benchmarking, tweaking! There are many sorts of tweaking, from the basic ones to the more advance level ones, at the moment i am going through the basic ones.. so that advance tweaking will be a breeze later on.

The art of tweaking is an art where if you are short of pulling a high clock on your system, you are to resort to the mechanics of the operating system or the architecture of Intel/AMD itself. At the moment i am going to focus on the Intel/Windows tweaking for Super PI 32M benchmarking.

As the focus here will be on tweaking, the speed and dividers wont be an issue, so my rig will be as following:

Proc: E6600 B2 @ 3.0Ghz
Ram: PC5300 @ 5-5-5-15

The rest at the moment doesnt play a role as the tweaking would involve the software side of it. I have also turn EIST and C1E on. Later on, we will check if this produces a difference.

Firstly, on default, whereby i am running a basic normal setup. I have put on a mono color background. This we will find out later, whether it makes any difference on a SP32M run. In a normal setup, all items are ran at normal, everything boots up and systems work like in everyday life.

SP32M - 18m 49.703s

Oh well, forgot to switch the screenie of the 2nd CPU-z to ram.. If you noticed, this is what we will set as a sample case. We will see if tweaks make this run faster or its neglegable.

On the second run, i have decided to load on a diagnostic setup whereby the operating system only loads basic devices and drivers. No LAN on this time. This is the most basic tweak, a beginner can learn when it comes to SP32M.

SP32M - 18m 45.313s

Well, a diagnostic setup helps a lot! The time has been shaved by 4.39s. The SP32M works mainly on the processor/ram corelation. The faster the processor processes and allocates, and the more emptier the ram is, to allocate them, gives SP32M quicker times. Thus, proving that it might not be 99% speed related when benching this SPi.

On the third run, i will introduce to you the SetMem tweak. This tweak will work alongside the Diagnostic setup tweak, hopefully shaving off the times to lower levels. The SetMem, limits the memory capacity to the most basic minimum, and this can help to cut short time allocating data to each register, lets put it this way, there are 200 slots in a cupboard, and having to choose randomly where to put each book into a slot, this would take some time, but if a restriction of slots are allocated, lets say 50, then the time taken would be faster to allocate them. But in the memory context, since it "goes in and out" at an instant. We will see whether this theory actually works..

Well the Msi comp just passed and i was thinking that Bryan.. haha, noob of competitive benching actually got 4th placing in the MSI Iron Tech 2008.
Bryan a.k.a BryanYeo87 from Lowyat Net is a part of our Team BTB. In fact he is our leader. And i have to say that i am really proud of him to take part in this competition. Today i tried doing some benching.. and there are a few interesting observations i made..

1. A newly installed windows.. does kick ass
2.Crucial heatspreaders do nothing but store heat

On the newly installed windows, i could easily hit 3.6Ghz with only 1.55V.. which is a significant leap of voltage compared to the shit-filled os i am at the moment. Nevertheless, i am now gonna separate my oc hdd to my normal hdd. A new lesson learnt.. and yeah my guru is gonna pass me a tweaked OS to bench.. thank you bro.. and gave me new light to tweaks.. will come back to you on that part soon....

Crucial heatspreaders have been a big debate for sometime now.. its just a piece of aluminium and a 3M tape that doesnt do much.. this is a far cry from the Corsair DOminators i used earlier.. where the cooling mechanism was par ultima. Currently i am finding ways to cool down that "woman" so it can perform what its meant to.

Ram test

Just ran a test on the Crucial Ballistix for errors using the Memtest for Windows software, but no errors. Its tricky though, and i feel now that my 65nm E6600 is giving me a pain. There are a few things now in my wish list.. which is immediate.. hmm well

1. A better processor...
2. A good psu...

Today morning i tried the old hdd sp32m tweak but lolz, didnt work.. as the hdd was a tad bit too SLOW. It is the ST320212S harddisk i think.. its about 8 yrs old. Ill be getting some help from an OC guru soon, and hopefully that tweak actually works..

ON another note, i am really grateful to one man who taught me the virtue of patience, ndgoh from LYN. Hopefully ur reading my blog, bro :) And i am glad to be back ocing.. in small steps.

Rams.. and etc

I saw the beautiful picture taken by oc43 on his team xtreem 1066. It is great to have a d9gkx on the rams. Good on you, brian :P My rams are doing great and i did take out the heatsink.. a part of it and i saw d9gmh inscripted and it used the 0.18micron processing. Not learned much about fabrication so well, ill leave that to the experts to figure out.

I am thinking carefully about my cooling for the ram. It seems that the heatspreader doesnt really do much. Its not hot at all. Itchy thoughts came, i wanna put a ThermalRight ram cooler on it. Maybe it would help lolz. Who cares about warranty anyways.. by then, ill be off to DDR2.
One thing to note though, this ram chips are EOL, so it is really hard to find them. I also would have to check whether this rams have an issue at top speeds.

Considering that my processor cant do 400*9 now.. its rather certain that my dividers are too high to hit the 1:1 ratio. This leaves me with little options but to get the all famed e8 series from Intel. SPi is giving me issues as well. Well ill look at it at new light, see how to work on the dividers and PL's.

Crucial Ram. a.k.a new toy to play with :)

My new rams have arrived and they are the Crucial Ballistix DDR2 1066Mhz 2GB kits. This rams have d9gmh ram chips in them and are reputed to fly to blinding speeds of pc9600 @ 4-4-4-8 at least. Nevertheless, when you r picking rams, u ought to look out for this chips. For the next few days i hope, i am gonna come up with a few ram test.. of speed, and hopefully this rams will live up to my expectations and not DOA. lolz.

If youre a big fan of Crucial rams, never fail to look at the batch numbers, where batch numbers which end at 16fd5 and 16fd3 are suppose to be double sided d9 gmh chips. Good for clocking. Hopefully this assumption will hold true for the next few days.

At the moment, with the absence of my "gem" ram, i am left with the current setup which is as follows:

Cpu: E6600 B2 cooled by DeepCool KillerWhale :)

Motherboard: Foxconn Mars P35

Ram: KVR DDR2 667 2GB

Graphics: Leadtek Winfast 7600Gt ddr3

The setup is not bad, though i cant get the ram to go to PC6400. Must be the KVR branding. Lol. So far i have only tried a 1:1 setup @ 3000Mhz and 667Mhz where by the KillerWhale did ok, at 37 @ idle and 48 @ load with a simple SP32M run. I will do a OCCT run with the graphs when time permits me. This in turn can be compared with other coolers... for example the Thermal Right True Copper. I am not sure when thats coming in to Malaysia. My testing would incorporate "in casing" tests.. because, most users will be adhere to the fact that the cooler will remain in the casing then outside.

tada... this is my new cpu cooler, the Deepcool KillerWhale.. on my profile main pic. Most of you would have been used to the ifx14 setup rig i had about 2 months ago.. today i decided to test the Deepcool monster. Hopefully can come up with some results soon.

Preparing a New Setup

I am intending to prepare a new setup for my pc, which will comprise of a new pair of rams and a spanking new cooler, which under the pretext of secrecy, i am not suppose to reveal it just yet. Hopefully ill be able to get it soon. In 3 months time, i am going to work on my new Water Cooling setup and a DDR3 setup. Ill get back on the items i am looking for for my WC setup :) Will write soon :)

Hello,
im back again. Yes i have been not active in the overclocking scene for quite a while. Now i rather do things in the silence, and when i get some proper results, ill post it up. MSI competition is in two weeks time, but its interesting that my new team has two ppl in, i hope. Ill look forward for the next overclocking competition. For now, financial freedom is a must. I hope things will go alright for me to start again, my hobby. ON another note, i did my first cl3 ddr2 800 on my ex Corsair Dominators. It was a gorgeous ram. But now i have to move to greener pastures.

I am looking forward to working on a new rig at the moment :) I have got the board now, i am looking to sell the rams and processor only. If there is a chance to get really good rams, i would be thrilled. The processor is crucial.. I need a good processor :)

Today, well its slow moving though i get to sell some of my old stuff, for more money, to support my oc :) There will be more to write the coming weekend because i get to loan x3320 and a pair of micron d9gmh sticks to test :) Hope to get some benchmarks and ill post it up here :)

Retiring?

im officially retired from my oc scene and will be so till i have enough dough or sponsorship to support my hobby. Having been overclocking for 2 years now, its been a wonderful journey of ups and downs, though i have never got the chance to do any extreme overclocking with DICE and LN2. I want to focus my time on learning the essentials of overclocking and learning more about my boards reaction to my processor.

Having retired doesnt mean that i wont come back to the scene anymore.. i am actually looking forward to it with a big bang :) It also looks like i wont be able to join the MSI overclocking tourney because of lack of resources.

E2140 use is over?

Hello. Back again.. Today i did a full test on my Foxconn Mars wit the E2140 Mo. It just wouldnt boot with anything above 380Mhz*8=3.04Ghz, which is disappointed but perhaps overlooked before buying the board. This board doesnt seem to like the e2140 too much, unlike the Abit in which the processor speed soars. Below is the stable top speed achieved for my e2140

today was a day where i got pretty nasty on a top overclocker. number 1 in malaysia. I challenged him on DICE and i have no idea why i did that.... Will keep you updated with this challenge later on...

Also a challenge to break the 24K mark in 3dmark06, which needs incredible cpu power... but if i do break it, i would get sponsorship chances i hope...

Abit Doom, Foxconn Salvation

Still on the lookout for a proper image database to store all my pics, i shall leave out the glory days of the IP35-E for now and bask on the Foxconn Mars instead. By the looks of it, Foxconn Mars definitely does strike the eye of a techie, why? because its just gorgeous. It is beautiful on the outside and the Bios does all u want as an overclocker. For a newbie to work on this board, would take an effective 2 weeks or more to work around this board.

Word does say that Foxconn doesnt like petite processors like the E2140, i wonder why. It is built to serve the current wolfsdale, yorksfield, and extreme processors of Intel. I can say that for 6 hours yesterday i was trying to work on something. At least an overclock.. i manage to push it up from 200Mhz on the FSB to 300Mhz, which is a 50% overclock. Not too bad. More to come on that later though.

On the other hand, the Abit IP35-e might have had a pretty rough day with its new owner, since it did not want to enter BIOS, or even not have its ram slots work. Maybe all the work has put out the glow of this once invincible motherboard. Priced at Rm370 once, it managed a bus overclock of 517Mhz on a E6400. Which i find amazing.

Alright laterz, then. Nap time :P

The end of my Abit IP35-E

Today was the last day of my reign as the master of the Abit Ip35-e. Well, its been a good 1 year for me with that board and i achieved quite a lot with that board. I will post up some of achievements with that board once i get flickr or photosite up. Rather now i have bought the much sought after Foxconn Mars. To my dismay, this board is having issues with the e2140. Maybe, i am not a freak in OC, but this is pretty bad, to say the least, i cant even post on a 3.00Ghz clock, which was tad easy with my Ip35-e. It does look like i might have to switch my processor to the beautiful and powerful Wolfsdale processor. Till the next post tomorrow.. ciao.

My Blog Pilot

Oh well, the main reason i started this blog, is to eradicate my boredom besides overclocking. I am never been a good Blogger, as i done this stuff a long while back.. maybe due to the fact that i never really had a good hobby to blog lol. Being a technology enthusiast, i have been priviledged to meet some really interesting people, some who are just barely teenagers, to engineers. Some even retirees.

Hopefully, this journey of overclocking will lead me to greater heights in my life, regardless, technical or in the emotional sense. By the way, i would like to offer my greatest thanks to my team, Team OCX and Team BTB for sparking the fire of overclocking in me again :)
